This course aims at an in-depth approach to essential themes for superior competitive performance, such as regional economy and location, cluster policy, competitive analysis at the level of firm, country, region, or city. Participants work with class materials – case studies, lecture presentations, towards finalizing with applied team work projects on clusters and competitive advantage. Also known as Microeconomics of competitiveness: firms, clusters and economic development (MoC) aims at an in-depth approach to essential themes for superior competitive performance, such as regional economy and location, cluster policy, competitive analysis at the level of firm, country, region, or city. As a result of our school’s affiliation to the MoC network coordinated by the Institute for Strategy and Competitiveness (ISC), participants work with class materials – case studies, lecture presentations, audio-video streaming – prepared by faculty at Harvard Business School. The course is finalized with applied team work projects of which one may qualify for the ISC annual competition that recognizes student contributions to the growing body of competitiveness research by awarding the MOC Team Project Award.
